
Dr. Ann Johnson is the Director of Professional Development for Curriculum Designers, Inc. and independent consultant. She works with public, independent, and post-secondary institutions internationally on implementing curriculum and assessment reform, developing high quality leadership teams, and developing training and implementation plans. Her practical approach to design and alignment is based on her thirty years experiences as a classroom teacher, associate superintendent, building principal, adjunct professor, and leader in schools, who have implemented long term curriculum alignment and mapping initiatives.
Ann has facilitated extensive onsite and virtual work with schools and leadership teams to help them implement curriculum and assessment reform. She has also trained teachers and administrators in the curriculum and assessment design process and coached leadership teams in developing implementation plans. She is featured in Heidi Hayes Jacob’s book, Getting Results with Curriculum Mapping, in ASCD’s DVD, Getting Results with Curriculum Mapping, in Assessment in a Learning Organization: Shifting the Paradigm by Art Costa and Bena Kallick; her new book with Heidi, The Curriculum Mapping Planner: Templates, Tools, and Resources for Effective Professional Development; and in a series Heidi’s curriculum Mapping series by Video Journal of Education. Ann has also served as a mentor and coach to ASCD Faculty members from the Pacific Rim (Japan and Australia) in curriculum mapping.
Ann’s doctoral work was in implementing complex change and innovations in a school system. This research has provided the structural underpinnings for her work with schools who are working to develop their leadership structure and comprehensive professional development plan to sustain long term change. She has a master’s in Curriculum Design and her doctorate in Educational leadership.
